Evil Colenivil!

Cole had an accident the other day that I have been wanting to blog on:)  My sister and her family came to visit and we were outside at the end of the day riding bikes with her 2 little boys.  This picture here is the after picture, and when I say "after picture" I mean 4 days after the accident.  In this picture the scab has fallen off, so it actually doesn't look so bad:)  Scroll down for the rest of the story.

It all started on a lovely evening in June.  Cole felt empowered by his new bike helmet and he was ready to show the world his skills. 

His family was around him.  However, this made him feel even more rebellious and he soon decided that he need to impress all in attendance.  With his cousins watching on, Cole tried to ride his bike as fast as his little 3 year old legs would take him!  He had planned his trick perfectly, that is, except for the paved road part.  With a swerve and a wobble he crashed onto the black unknown!  Then out of nowhere...

BOOM!  CRASH!  BANG!  Yes- it was fast and loud, all you heard for miles around was Cole's skin scraping onto the pavement.  Daddy came to the rescue, but the damage was done.  You can see the war wounds left on Kenny's shirt.  But of course, like any good dad, he told that little boy to get back up on that bike:) 

He walked away from that one with a scraped nose, head, and helmet, and a new respect for the road! 

Katie's 1st Goal!

We are so excited! Katie had her first goal! Well, at least I think she had her first goal. If you ask Kenny he will say she helped, but he doesn't think that it was her that kicked it in. I think that she did most of it so I'm considering it her goal! Katie thinks that she licked it in as well. You will have to watch the video and judge it for yourself. It's kind of hard to see because they let every kid on the team play at once, so you get 14 little kids running around like sheep being chased by a dog. It's a good video though because you get to see Katie kicking the ball and running after it, then making the goal! I was so excited that I just turned the camera off right after the goal! It was very exciting and you can see the shock on Katie's face:) I think she was the most surprised! She's #1 with the long blond ponytail for those who don't recognize her:)

SOCCER STUDS!

So here are the long awaited pictures of the girls and their soccer teams! They aren't the best pictures, it's hard to take pictures and yell at the same time:) Both of the girls are pretty good players, and we have had alot of fun with them in this! I think that they are both hooked and will want to keep doing this for now! They are actually on different teams, but they happened to have the same color of shirts. Katie was on the 5-6 year old team and Maddie is on the 7-8 year old team. Their rules are a little different since they played indoor soccer, but it was still alot of fun watching them. I will try to take some better pictures at the next game of Maddie. She still has 3 or 4 games left, but Katie's season is done.

Life Is Crazy Some Days!

Well, sorry I have been really sucking at the this blog thing! I have no excuse except that we have been busy. I am currently planning a reunion that I won't be attending, trying to be a decent Relief Society President, helping my kids finish out the school year, taking kids to soccer games and practices, having family visiting for the past 2 weeks and the next 3, and still managing to stay sane! Did I forget anything? Oh- Kenny had an amazing time at Airbourne School for 3 weeks, so I was a single mom then and I am about to be a single mom again as soon as he starts residency in one week. Well, life is grand! For some reason I am still standing and I just keep telling myself to take one day at a time! I think that when I look around I really have it so good! I have the opportunity to stay home with my children which I love, and I have supportive family and friends! I really have it so much better than alot! I want to post pictures but we have recently changed computers! We got a Mac and I am totally stupid when it comes to pictures! I have a few that I can post for now, but nothing to good- I will try to post some better ones soon! Thanks for looking and I promise I will change the music- I know that it's boring:)

Easter Morning

I wanted to share our Easter with everyone. It actually comes with a funny story:) Cole had been sick for awhile so he wasn't in the best of moods, and he was sleeping really late. The girls of course were really impatient as they could see eggs hidden through out the back yard. Finally I agreed to let them wake Cole up so that they could go egg hunting. BIG MISTAKE! Cole was excited for a few minutes when he saw his filled basket.... then.... the tears came! As we went outside he continued to cry and whine. Kenny tried being patient in the beginning and tried to get him to find eggs, but Cole continued to sob. At one point Kenny pointed out an egg to Cole that was sitting in the middle of a brick, unfortunalty this only made things worse as Cole screamed that there was a spider in there and that he could not possibly place his hand in there! Well, luckily (heavy sarcasim) I had been video taping this whole emotional break down. As I watched back the taping this is what I saw:

Cole: (whimper, whimper, tear, tear)
Kenny: Cole look! There's an egg in there!
Cole: No! (Sob, Sob.) I don't want a egg!
Kenny: Look Cole- the Easter Bunny hid this for you!
Cole: I don't want a egg! (Cry)
Kenny: Cole, just put your hand in there and get the egg. (Getting impatient)
Cole: NO!!!! There's a spider! (Screaming)
Kenny: Cole, knock it off and get the egg.
Cole: NOOOOOOOOOOO! SPIDER!!!!!
Kenny: Cole, suck it up and get the dang egg!!!!!
Cole: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! (Hysterically crying!)
Kenny: Oh forget this. We are going inside!

Yes- it was indeed a memorable Easter!:)

Spring Break!

Well, it's official! We can finally say that we have been on both coasts, swam (ok, maybe just waded) in both oceans, and have been clear across the country!

I took the girls to Myrtle Beach on March 25th during spring break, and they had the time of their short lives!!! Kenny wasn't able to come due to work, but we still had a great time! It didn't take the girls long before they were swimming in the 20 degree water, and then the best part was that in order to warm up (because it was only in the 50s on the beach that day) the girls got the bright idea to roll around in the sand. It makes sense- the sand is hot, the girls are freezing, why not? Of course after that we had sand caked clothes and girls:) We (Andrea and her 2 girls and us) made them strip down before they got into the van. When I was home the next day I had to lay their clothes out on the sidewalk to hose off! They had so much fun though, and I forgot how much I missed seeing an ocean! I think that we will always have to live close to one- they are so relaxing and calming. My favorite part of the trip was when the girls were standing right at the egde of the ocean and screaming towards it- You couldn't hear a thing!!!!! ;)

Sneaky, Sneaky

The most unusual thing happened a few days ago. I will try to explain this story the best way I know how.

It was like any other day in the Carey household. The kids were full of energy and having fun playing, Kenny was at a meeting, and I was beginning to fix dinner. I knew that Kenny would come home hungry and that the children had not eaten anything since lunch, so I decided to fix dinner early and have it ready at 4:30. I called the children to the table at about 4:45pm and was greeted with the response, "Yuck, chili!" by the small blondie (AKA Katie). It was no surprise for we all know that she is a strict vegetarian (minus the vegetables). Katie preceeded to tell me that she was not hungry, and Cole (the tag along) echoed her response. Maddie (our angel) loves chili and scarfed it down within seconds. The younger two skipped off as I called after them, "You will not get anything else!"

I was being patient that day, and we were having friends over soon, so I did not feel the necessity of them eating dinner right then. Well, our friends arrived and we visited for a few hours. Kenny had returned home, and he noticed the full plates sitting on the table, but did not seem to mind also. We went about our evening sitting in the living room, however we did walk outside for a small moment to show off our newly landscaped back yard. 6:30 rolled around and our friends left, but to my surprise the two younger children did not come and ask for food. Kenny and I ate, and still not a peep about nurishment from either child. I had also made corn bread, and I know Katie will eat that, but she proceeded to tell me she wasn't hungry. Finally 7:30 came and as we prepared the children for bed, I warned them....You may wake up hungry tonight, but I don't want to hear about it! They went to bed without an argument, and Kenny and I just stood with mouths agape, not sure what to do.

Now here comes the interesting part. As Kenny and I prepared for bed I was in our bathroom. I glanced over at the garbage, and I noticed that there were some cookie wrappers in it. I will proceed to explain my thought process:

"Hmmm, that's strange. Cookie wrappers in the bathroom garbage?!?"

"Why would Kenny eat cookies in the bathroom?"

"Wow, he must have been really craving cookies because he ate 3 bags of them!"

"Wait... Kenny wouldn't have eaten those in here!"

"Hmmm....3 empty cookie bags....3 children who were not hungry for dinner....3 empty cookie bags....3 children...."

Now, for most who know me you understand my delayed thinking process-he he.

Well, I can now proudly say that I have sneaky kids! I'm sure they think that they got away with this. Kenny and I were both too entertained over the thought of them hiding in our bathroom eating cookies to punish them. I thought most parents would find this humorous. It's amazing what these little minds can do when they put all three of them together:)
