Sewing Adventures

Here are my feeble attempts at sewing for the year! (ok- maybe this is the most I will sew for the next few years)  I have a friend who showed me a bag that she made and I absolutely LOVED it!  She said that it was pretty easy so I decided to take the leap and make one.  Well, it also gave me the idea to make some cute little bags for Maddie's birthday party guests.  We decided to go all out this year for Maddie's birthday and she wanted a spa birthday at this cute salon, so I figured it would be really cute if they got their own little purse/bag.  After finding a really simple pattern (for free) online I made these....

First I had to prove that I really did make these by documenting the beginning steps....

One of the steps that keeps me from sewing is all the ironing...

Finally the first one is done... and only took 5 hours- just kidding- about 15-20 mins.

TADA!!!  All 7 bags... FINISHED!!!

Next is the bag that my friend helped me make!  I made this one for my mother-in-law's birthday!  I'm pretty amazed that I didn't completely mess it up:)

Maddie's "Family" Birthday Party

When are kids birthday's don't land on the date of their birthday party we always have a "Family Birthday Party" on their birthday.  Normally it consists of opening presents and birthday cake.  So here are the pictures of Maddie's.  She received alot of special baptism presents this year as well.  I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that she is 8 years old already:)!

Here they are!  Yes, in the flesh- our long-awaited Halloween Pictures!

If I have to explain what we are then you are not a true American!  :)

And yes, you may be asking yourself, "Aren't they missing Shaggy?" and "What does Venom have to do with the Scooby Doo gang?"

Well.... let me explain....

Cole is 3.  Nough said!

Everyone was shocked to see Kenny with hair- I let them know that he just didn't shave his head for a few days:)

 I wasn't sure that I could pull off Daphne seeing she was the pretty one, but I was very confident that Maddie could easily do it.  Plus, Velma's the smart one- remember?!

These next pictures are priceless!  Cole with his best bud (as he likes to call him)!  

We weren't allowed to call Cole Venom- he was "Black Spiderman"! 

Break Dancin'

I was just finishing mopping the floor today and Cole walked in.  He asked me if I was done, and I said yes.  He proceeded to lay down on the floor and I couldn't figure out for the life of me why, but hey, this is Cole we're talking about right?!  The next thing I knew I was laughing so hard I couldn't stop!  What he did was only pure genius!  Amazing what this kid an come up with, and I'm still not sure where he learned this from- my guess is "So You think You Can Dance"!

Ok- so I'm really sorry about not blogging sooner or putting up pictures of Halloween yet! You see, I really do have an excuse this time! My camera "mysteriously" got a crack in the LCD screen. The camera would still work, but I didn't want to mess with it and I took it into Best Buy to get it fixed. Unfortunately, it took 2 weeks to get it back. I was able to borrow a camera for Halloween and everything, but I couldn't hook it up to my computer. So, hopefully it will only be a little bit longer and I should have the pictures.

Until then... enjoy the new blogs I was able to put up, and these pictures of Jacob "the frog".

This little frog was by our front door every night for a full week.  HE would climb up onto the window seal and just sit there.  Cole named him Jacob, because let's face it, everything is named Jacob in our house!

Carving Pumpkins

Carving pumpkins was very interesting this year!  Our kids have never been huge fans of it.  They seem excited for it each year, and then once the pumpkin is opened they stand back and stare at it like there's an alien climbing out of it.  I understand that it can be a little gross, but their kids!  They should be loving this right!  I mean, these are the same kids who catch frogs and bugs, and who play in the mud constantly!  I can just not figure them out.  Especially Cole- HELLO, he's a boy!  Pumpkin guts should be number 3 on the list of fun things to play with!

Well, after some persuasion and a good dose of threatening they finally decided to be a part of this tradition.  (We may have said that if they don't touch the pumpkin gut we would throw it at them.)

You may notice that Maddie is not in any of these pictures.  She is actually the one taking the pictures.  I think it was her way of trying to get out of it:)

This is the final result- we let the kids draw their own faces on and we cut them out, so if some of them look funny you'll know why!

Each kid is standing or sitting next to the one that they carved.

Cole's Soccer Season

Cole had his very first soccer season this year!  He was so excited to play since his sisters got to play last season.He was grouped in a team with 3 and 4 year olds.  And believe me if you want to be entertained you just have to watch one of these games:)  He caught on pretty fast and he got his first goal during his first game!  I didn't have the video camera on, but I was quick enough to catch the picture of it!  Cole is #8 in the purple!   

I think one of Cole's favorite parts was the practices that they held before the games though!  He had fun playing tag and chasing the little girls around!  Most games were spent chasing girls, and whatever time he had left he spent in climbing the nets on the goals!

Each kid got a trophy at the last game!  Cole was so proud of it and kept insisting that he had to go home and put it on his dresser!
